Connecting ChatGPT to Playground MCP

This guide walks through connecting ChatGPT to the Playground MCP server using OAuth. Before you start, make sure:

  • MCP is enabled for your domain (Control Panel → Advanced Features) and your role (Control Panel → Roles). See Overview for details.
  • You have copied your Connect Token from Profile → App Passwords. The token appears next to an app password when MCP is enabled — you'll paste it into the authorization screen that ChatGPT opens.

Step 1: Add a Custom MCP Connector

In ChatGPT, open the connectors/Actions settings and add a new MCP server:

Server URL: https://mcp.playg.app/mcp
Authentication: OAuth

No token goes into the connector config — authentication is handled by OAuth.

Step 2: Authenticate

ChatGPT opens the Playground authorization screen in your browser.

Step 3: Paste Your Connect Token

On the Connect to Playground screen, paste your Connect Token into the form and approve. ChatGPT finishes the OAuth exchange and the connector shows as connected.

Step 4: Start Creating Plays

Ask ChatGPT to create a play, for example:

"Help me create a Salesforce play that validates account phone numbers on insert/update using ACME_ prefix."

If the connection fails, check:

  • The Connect Token was copied from Profile → App Passwords and pasted exactly as-is.
  • MCP is enabled for your domain and role (you'll otherwise get: "MCP is not enabled for your account. Contact your system admin.").
  • Your connector is configured to use the correct server URL: https://mcp.playg.app/mcp.
